Most Fordonellians would never dream of leaving the comfort and luxury of their planet. But not Melvin. The lure of adventure is a call Melvin just can’t resist. So, he did the unthinkable, he cashed in his trust fund, bought a cargo ship, registered as a uni-hauler and joined the only company licensed for interstellar travel.
Just like that, he’s Captain of cargo ship 7882, with his compass set to the universe and his heart set to adventure! There’s just one problem: Melvin doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing.
His sheltered homelife gave him no real-world skills (He does know all the words to every show tune in the galaxy though). To most aliens, this would be a massive set back.
But Melvin is not most aliens.
He’s got something none of his colleagues have: cheery, optimistic grit. What he lacks in skill, he makes up for with enthusiasm.
His upbeat positivity makes him fearless; he will never back down from a challenge, or give up when things get too tough. Melvin laughs in the face of danger and very often in the face of common sense too.
Melvin’s greatest asset is his thirst for knowledge. As a child he would devour books on the lives and customs of other planets,correcting various family members when they made snide and ignorant comments about other species. Now as an employee of Intergalactix, he finally gets to explore them for himself.
Melvin might not know how to successfully fly a ship, navigate through constellations or even get the coffee machine working, but he’s on a mission to be the best Captain in the universe. (And he’s already bought the mug, eager to earn it).
When he’s not on duty, he’s watching action movies and screening calls from his overbearing mother.
